真正的科学博客：大化学家Pauling的博客

Pauling自己的研究手稿、信件和日记被贴到网上，构成了现代味的博客。

Pauling的博客是真正的科学博客。

Pauling生于1901年，逝世于1994年，Pauling是高寿科学家，活到94岁。

1922年，Pauling大学毕业于Oregon Agricultural College（Oregon State University），获得化学工程学士学位。

1925年，Pauling博士毕业于Caltech（加州理工大学），获得物理化学（和数学物理）博士学位。1927年，Pauling在Caltech获得助理教授职位。

1931年，Pauling开始发表关于化学键的里程碑论文：

The nature of the chemical bond：Application of results obtained from the quantum mechanics and from a theory of paramagnetic susceptibility to the structure of molecules." February 17, 1931.

Pauling是亲自动手型科学家，而不是现在流行的经费大老板科研二道贩子（很少有科研手稿）。

50多岁（1952年）时，Pauling自己亲自计算DNA（Nucleic Acids）结构，当年的手稿现在公诸于世。

Pauling是学化学的，但是非常精通晶体结构和量子力学。此外，Pauling分析问题时的物理图像非常明确。

Pauling的博客里有很多信件，我查到了有关余瑞璜先生的记载，因为我在以前的博文里提到余瑞璜和Pauling的关系（还需要进一步的查阅）。
