The subject matter of papers published in Atmospheric Environment covers air pollution research and its applications. Papers should present novel results based on experiments, theory and modelling of the atmosphere extending from the scale of buildings and streets to the globe. The main aim of Atmospheric Environment is to provide a scientific understanding of the consequences of natural and human-induced perturbations of the earth's atmosphere. Areas covered include air pollution research and its applications, air quality and its effects, dispersion and transport, deposition, biospheric- atmospheric exchange, atmospheric chemistry and induced changes in radiation and climate. Atmospheric Environment publishes original research and review articles, special issues and supplements, and New Directions columns.

Since its first appearance in 1966, Earth and Planetary Science Letters has built up an enviable reputation. Its successful formula of presenting high-quality research articles with minimal delay has made it one of the most important sources of information in its field. The articles published reflect the great impact made on research in the geosciences by the use of successful research methods from other disciplines such as chemistry, physics, and mathematics. It also covers research into all aspects of lunar studies, plate tectonics, ocean floor spreading, and continental drift, as well as basic studies of the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the Earth's crust and mantle, the atmosphere and the hydrosphere.

Mid 2002 a new section of short reviews called Frontiers was introduced within Earth and Planetary Science Letters. These high profile papers are written by leading experts and published as the opening pages to regular EPSL issues. The papers fill an important niche of fast communications that bring the scientific community up-to-speed on interesting new areas of science.

Chemical Geology (including Isotope Geoscience) is an international journal that publishes original research papers on the isotopic and elemental geochemistry and geochronology of the Earth. The Journal is concerned with chemical processes in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology, low- and high-temperature aqueous solutions, biogeochemistry and the environment. Papers that are field, experimentally, or computationally based are all appropriate providing they are of broad international interest. The Journal also welcomes innovative papers dealing with significant analytical advances that are of wide interest in the community and extend significantly beyond the scope of what would be included in the methods section of a standard research paper.

Lithos is an international English language journal publishing high-quality, original research papers on mineralogy, petrology and geochemistry, emphasizing the application of mineralogy and geochemistry to petrogenetic problems. The types of contribution published are scholastic papers, reviews, discussions and book reviews.

The Official Journal of the European Association of Organic Geochemists

Organic Geochemistry serves as the only dedicated medium for the publication of peer-reviewed research on all phases of geochemistry in which organic compounds play a major role. The Editors welcome contributions covering a wide spectrum of subjects in the geosciences broadly based on organic chemistry (including molecular and isotopic geochemistry), and involving geology, biogeochemistry, environmental geochemistry, chemical oceanography and hydrology. The scope of the journal includes research involving petroleum (including natural gas) coal, organic matter in the aqueous environment and recent sediments, organic-rich rocks and soils and the role of organics in the geochemical cycling of the elements. Sedimentological, paleontological and organic petrographic studies will also be considered for publication, provided that they are geochemically oriented. Papers cover the full range of research activities in organic geochemistry, and include comprehensive review articles, technical communications, discussion/reply correspondence and short technical notes. Peer-reviews organised through two Chief Editors and a staff of Associate Editors, are conducted by well known, respected scientists from academia, government and industry. The journal also publishes reviews of books, announcements of important conferences and meetings and other matters of direct interest to the organic geochemical community.

Earth-Science Reviews publishes review papers of all aspects of Earth Sciences or treatises on an expanding Earth Sciences subject. Covering a much wider field than the usual specialist journals, it allows the reader to see his particular interest related to the earth sciences as a whole. Because of the breadth and depth of its approach to subjects of current interest, the journal is an important vehicle of information gathering for instructors; students; research scientists; government agencies involved in programme support and management and in environmental assessment and control; private industries concerned with planetary resources and the independent consultant

EARTH SCIENCE REVIEWS - the publication medium for review articles in earth sciences.

The Journal of Asian Earth Sciences is an international interdisciplinary journal devoted to all aspects of research related to the solid Earth Sciences of Asia. The Journal publishes high quality, peer-reviewed scientific papers on the regional geology, tectonics, geochemistry and geophysics of Asia. It will be devoted primarily to research papers but short communications relating to new developments of broad interest, reviews and book reviews will also be included. Papers must have international appeal and should present work of more than local significance.

The scope includes deep processes of the Asian continent and its adjacent oceans; seismology and earthquakes; orogeny, magmatism, metamorphism and volcanism; growth, deformation and destruction of the Asian crust; crust-mantle interaction; evolution of life (early life, biostratigraphy, biogeography and mass-extinction); fluids, fluxes and reservoirs of mineral and energy resources; surface processes (weathering, erosion, transport and deposition of sediments) and resulting geomorphology; and the response of the Earth to global climate change as viewed within the Asian continent and surrounding oceans.

Quaternary Science Reviews caters for all aspects of Quaternary science, and includes, for example, geology, geomorphology, geography, archaeology, soil science, palaeobotany, palaeontology, palaeoclimatology and the full range of applicable dating methods. The dividing line between what constitutes the review paper and one which contains new original data is not easy to establish, so QSR also publishes papers with new data especially if these perform a review function. All the Quaternary sciences are changing rapidly and subject to re-evaluation as the pace of discovery quickens; thus the eclectic and comprehensive role of Quaternary Science Reviews keeps readers abreast of the wider issues relating to new developments in the field. Quaternary Science Reviews includes Special Issues on topical subjects arising from recent scientific meetings, in response to significant chances in Quaternary subject matter, or to acknowledge the achievements of some outstanding Quaternary Scientist.

Launched in 1968 to fill the need for an international journal in the field of planetary physics, geodesy and geophysics, Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors has now grown to become important reading matter for all geophysicists. It is the only journal to be entirely devoted to the physical and chemical processes of planetary interiors.

Original research papers, review articles, short communications and book reviews are all published on a regular basis; and from time to time special issues of the journal are devoted to the publication of the proceedings of symposia and congresses which the editors feel will be of particular interest to the reader.
